Public Health Foundation of India

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. It is a public private partnership that was collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies.

Dr. Ravi Narayan is a founding Governing Body member of the foundation,  Dr. Thelma Narayan is a PHFI resource person and CPHE is a resource centre.  CPHE has been involved in a number of PHFI initiaitves.

• CHC hosted a 5 day public health orientation programme from 16-20 July 2007 in Bangalore for 24 PHFI fellows who were selected for the Future Facuty Programme.

• Participated in development the draft MPH curriculum particularly the course module on Community Health Management and Public Health Policy Development in India.

• Dr. Thelma Narayan participated in the First National Consultation on Mapping Research Priorities for Society and Health Research in India.

• Dr Ravi Narayan facilitated the meetings of the subgroup to finalise the vision, mission and ethics policy of the foundation.

• Dr. Ravi Narayan and Dr. Thelma Narayan attended the International Conferenece on New Directions for Public Health Education in Low and Middle Income Countries.Extending the frontiers: Integrating public health consciousness into other academic programmes

• National Knowledge Commission
  Dr. Ravi Narayan was a member of the subgroup on community health orientation of human resource development and made a detailed submission to the commission.

• Karnataka Knowledge Commission
  Dr. Ravi Narayan was a member of the subgroup on human resource development and submitted suggestions HRD challenges for Karnataka.
